Between villages and flavors: what to see in and around Moniga

Your journey of discovery of the area can only begin at Moniga Castle. Considered one of the best preserved in the area, it will allow you to stroll through its ancient medieval walls and relax in the surrounding public park. To immerse yourself in local flavors, don’t miss Moniga’s weekly market on Monday mornings: it’s the perfect opportunity to buy excellent PDO olive oil and typical Garda cheeses.

For those who want to experience the lake to the fullest, the Baia Holiday Gardasee campground provides a private dock, ideal for sunbathing, diving, or as a starting point for boat explorations and water activities.

The experience continues with an unfailing tasting of Valtènesi Chiaretto at the town’s historic wine cellars. You can reach the renowned Costaripa winery with a walk of about 26 minutes (or by bus), or opt for Stork Mountain, about 30 minutes away on foot and also served by public transportation.

Islands, boats and wonders on the lake

Garda’s charm is also revealed through its islands. Not far from Moniga you can admire the spectacular Isola del Garda, which can be visited with guided tours, or explore the famous Isola di San Biagio (known as Isola dei Conigli). The latter is just two hundred meters from the mainland and can even be reached on foot when the lake level is particularly low. To move between the two shores without the stress of traffic, the ideal advice is to use the Navigarda boats, the most impressive way to get around while admiring the landscape.
