Discover Ostia Antica!
Within the Municipality of Rome there is an admirable example of an ancient city that has its roots in the sea and the Tiber River: it is Ostia Antica, an archaeological park of ruins and monuments among ancient trees and wild vegetation, which can be visited and is easily accessible.
A visit to the excavations of Ostia Antica will take you inside a city founded, according to tradition, by Anco Marcio, the fourth king of Rome, and, starting with the oldest archaeological evidence will take you on an exciting walk through history; the remains of the city that are spread over an area of 34 hectares, and include three archaeological areas: the Ostia Antica Excavations, the area of the imperial ports of Claudius and Trajan, and the Necropolis of Porto near Isola Sacra.
Hours and rates
The Archaeological Area of Ancient Ostia is open to the public Tuesday through Sunday and holidays.
Opening hours: 8:30 a.m.
Closing hours:
* October 25 to February 28 (or 29): last entry 3:30 pm with exit 4:30 pm;
* March 1 to March 31: last entry 4:15 pm with exit 5:15 pm;
* April 1 to September 30: last entry 6 p.m. with exit 7 p.m;
* October 1 to October 24: last entry 5:30 p.m. with exit 6:30 p.m.
The Ticket Office closes one hour before the reported time. The Ostiense Museum is temporarily closed.
The site is closed on Mondays, January 1, May 1 and December 25.

Only payment by ATM and Credit Card can be made at the ticket office. Purchase of tickets with cash payment is not available.
