The Rock of Manerba

The route to visit the Manerba Fortress begins at the visitor center, where it is possible to visit the Fortress Park Museum and see multimedia reconstructions of the archaeological areas. The museum is developed into two paths divided into two floors: on the ground floor is the archaeological path where the succession of settlements in the area is illustrated, and on the second floor is the nature path where the park’s flora and fauna features are displayed. Follow the marked path on foot to the top of the rise where the excavations of an ancient Roman villa are located and where you can admire a spectacular panorama of Lake Garda; in special weather conditions you can even see the entire lake, from Desenzano to Riva del Garda. Continuing along the path that skirts the cliff overlooking the lake, one encounters other reminders of the past including a curious turret that was used as an observation and survey point for seaplane speed tests in the 1930s.
