Venice is only 30 minutes from the campground and offers a classic itinerary. Take the boat directly to St. Mark’s Square or reach the renowned Venetian islands. Burano whose brightly colored houses enshrine the artists of traditional lace-making. Murano synonymous with precious colored and mouth-blown glass. And the small town of Torcello where you can see the Devil’s Bridge and find the landscapes described by Hemingway in his novel “Across the River and Into the Trees.” Not to be forgotten is the food and wine side that distinguishes these areas, important certainly is the fish proposal but not to be overlooked is the wine production perfect for pairing also with tasty meat dishes.

Murano

You can decide to start from Punta Sabbioni, or from Treporti, and in a few minutes you find yourself in a totally different, characteristic and enchanting setting. You will delve into the culture of this area, islands that have always been based on a strong artistic tradition that can be felt throughout the entire itinerary. Among the most famous, the island of Murano is worth a stop, based on artistic craftsmanship that enhances the reflections of water by transposing them onto artistic glass pieces of many shades. A production still based on the ancient crafts that continue to survive here in workshops scattered around the island that are still active today. Recently reopened, it is now also possible to visit the Glass Museum, where you can learn more about this magical art form and all the secrets that distinguish it through a tour that takes you from the 14th century to the present day.

Burano

Leaving Murano continue the journey to Burano, it will be impossible not to be impressed with its characteristic multicolored houses in brightly colored nuances. The evocative landscape that emerges strikes any visitor and has its roots in a rather peculiar legend; in fact, it is said that this tradition of painting houses was a remedy to prevent the exchange of houses in case of fog when returning from a day of fishing. Another characteristic of this island is the development of an ancient all-female craft, namely the making of lace that has become world famous. In the square that also houses the parish church, we suggest you visit the Lace Museum dedicated to this activity of excellence that has made history.

Torcello

To continue discovering the Venetian islands following a cultural footprint, we recommend making a final stop by visiting nearby Torcello, an island that will know how to immerse you in a magical atmosphere. A favorite destination throughout history for royalty and artists, including Ernest Hemingway, today this city is now almost uninhabited. Replaced by the power of Venice, this city underwent changes in importance and urban planning that brought it to its present state.
