Bicycle excursion – venetian lagoon
Bicycle excursion to explore the Venetian Lagoon area, departing from the Treporti receivership in the direction of San Francesco del Deserto by boat.
St. Francis of the Desert is an island-monastery the size of 4 hectares visited in 1220 by St. Francis of Assisi, who decided to establish a place of gathering and meditation by creating the St. Francis Convent still present today.
Once there, there is a guided tour in English with one of the Franciscan friars who will explain the history and interesting facts about the site.
In the second part of the excursion you can take a bike ride to the island of Sant’Erasmo, also known as the Garden of Venice for its wealth of history and secrets related to its agricultural vocation. The island’s signature product is the violet artichoke, which is also called castaure.
You will have the opportunity to visit and buy local products from farms.
