Inspirations – Camping Village Mare Pineta

Among the most beautiful walks one can take in the Venezia Giulia region, the Rilke Trail is definitely not to be missed. It is named after the Prague poet R.M. Rilke, who stayed at Duino Castle with Princes Torre and Tasso where he wrote his Duinese Elegies.
The route is accessed directly from Camping Village Mare Pineta, and from there it winds for 1,700 meters. The path is protected by a wooden fence, just above the karst ridge; then it enters the Pineta; finally it returns along the ridge. There are also three viewpoints at old World War II anti-aircraft emplacements. The route, accessible to all given the almost zero gradient, allows on the one hand to admire the typical cliffs of the plateau, and on the other to enjoy breathtaking views of the Gulf of Trieste. The trail ends in Duino at the castle of the same name, which can be visited.
