Discover the charm of the Venetian Lagoon by bike, exploring islands rich in history, picturesque landscapes, and local traditions. The excursion starts at the ticket office in Treporti and continues by boat to the island of San Francesco del Deserto. This small monastery island, covering about 4 hectares, was visited by St. Francis of Assisi in 1220, who chose this peaceful setting to devote himself to prayer and meditation. Even today, it is home to a Franciscan monastery, the guardian of centuries of history.

Once you arrive, you can take part in a guided tour in English, accompanied by one of the Franciscan friars, who will tell you about the island’s history and share some interesting facts about the monastery.
The second part of the excursion will take you by bike to the island of Sant’Erasmo, known asthe “Garden of Venice” for its agricultural heritage and traditions. Here you can explore rural landscapes, learn about local produce, and taste or purchase products from local farms. Among the island’s specialties, the purple artichoke from Sant’Erasmo—known locally as “castraure”—stands out.
