The Tremiti (or Diomedèe) Islands are an archipelago in the Adriatic Sea, 22 km north of the Gargano promontory. The archipelago constitutes the scattered municipality of Tremiti Islands whose capital is San Nicola, on the island of the same name. A nature reserve as well as a sanctuary of the Gargano National Park, they are famous for their lush vegetation and pristine sea rich in marine life; diving is especially popular because of the unspoiled nature of the sea.
